Several years ago the Lauer Foundation visited the Field Museum Mazon Creek collection of fossils and recognized the need for some assistance in tracking down specimen loans and other collection related tasks. The Lauer Foundation worked with the Field Museum to fund a new Registrar position to tackle these areas. The Lauer Collections Assistant position was established with funding by the Lauer Foundation. Cathy Wiegand was hired and has done a great job.
