National Fossil Day at Cosley Zoo

On Saturday October 19, The Lauer Foundation and Cosley Zoo presented a National Fossil Day event. National Fossil day is coordinated by the National Park Service.  The Lauer Foundation was asked by the NPS to participate and partnered with Cosley Zoo in Wheaton, Illinois.

The Foundation set up an exhibit that was viewed by almost 1,300 guests!  Participants learned about sharks and dinosaurs as well as Illinois’s Mazon Creek fossils including the state fossil, the Tully Monster.  Each participant went home with a fossil shark tooth with a scientific label and Lauer Foundation magnifying glass to inspect their new specimen.  Thank you to our partner Cosley Zoo for their support.
