Dr. Andrew Heckert and his students at Appalachian State University have been busy this 2021-2022 academic year. Dr. Heckert and eleven students visited the site in Northeast New Mexico in mid 2021 and collected more material to be sieved and sorted. In the lab, the students were busy picking thru matrix and identifying fossils.
Picking guides were developed for Fossil Friday lab sessions sorting through matrix for specimens. Dr. Heckert and his students produced a poster for SVP (Society of Vertebrate Paleontology). Several students produced posters about the site and their work for class credit. We are very pleased with the science and valuable field experience gained by the students.
