We are proud to introduce the Lauer Foundation’s newest holotype: Lacosteaster lauerorum, a Miocene sun star.  Dr. Andrew Gale and Dr. David Ward described the new species in a paper published in the Proceedings of the Geologists’ Association: A new sun star (Echinodermata, Asteroidea, Solasteridae) from the mid-Miocene of Lacoste, France. We honored to have the specimen named after our Foundation recognizing the scientific work we support.
